Songs are funny things.

Sometimes I hear a song, and I feel like its part of the soundtrack to some absurd movie that I’m living in. There are songs that make me feel like I want to hop a plane to a random spot on the globe and just follow the notes on the staff. I wonder sometimes if they’re like a pattern.  If they contain hints that we’re supposed to understand.  It’s another language, music. Every beat is like some sound wave that literally makes something inside of us click.  There are puzzle pieces in songs, its just that people don’t know where to look.  They’re not something we can see, but just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.  I wonder if maybe music is the only thing in the entire world that will always be renewable.  If we could fill our cars with lyrics rather than gasoline, we’d all have more money to spend on our caffeine habits. A song can take you back to a place, a person, a feeling. It can make you feel trapped inside your mind, as the thoughts you thought you’d forgotten swim to the surface of your brain.  Oh, songs can lock you down, and that’s a fact, but songs can also set you free.
